Here, Take My Card
Business cards tell a person a lot about a business without even knowing it. For some, it is the first exposure they have with the business. Because of the size of a business card, every aspect is important towards the final design: information provided, colors, fonts, size, and even material. I, myself, hold onto well-designed business cards, even if I do not plan to contact the business.
While Cafe 101 & Natural Sensations are located on the SFSU campus, they are still a private vendor available for business outside of the university. Having a business card on hand allows for more visibility beyond the campus. The joint business card is designed to express the business quality and drive interest, especially for those who have never been to either restaurant.

Hierarchy is Key
The business cards of Cafe 101 & Natural Sensations had not been used in a significant amount of time. Because of this, the design was outdated and needed a makeover. One key thing I noticed is that the contact information was not grouped in one spot but found on both the top and bottom of the card. Additionally, the brown background color used is not a color utilized at either location. The owner also requested that I remove his name from the final design because he shares the responsibility of running the restaurants with his son.

When Two Become One
In the final design, I tackled the challenge of creating a design that would show the two restaurants as part of a single business operation. To do this, I took advantage of the large amount of real estate on the back of the card, a part of the card that wasn't utilized previously, and designed a repeating pattern of both restaurant logos. I used these same logos on the front of the card and matched the colors of the logos and names to that of each restaurant's individual brand.
Because I had worked with the Mizirawis on multiple projects by this point, I truly appreciated the trust they had in me to create their new business cards. Working with a business continuously allowed me to foster a good relationship with the owners and know their restaurants on a deeper level. This relationship made it easier for me to present them and their business quality in the best light through the business cards.
